Magnetic Games - use MAGNET to play games on iPhone/iPad
Have fun playing new games on iPhone and iPad. These apps have one major innovation - you need a MAGNET to control player in the game.
Magnetic Ping Pong
Download on iTunes App Store.
Use MAGNET to play Ping Pong on your iPhone/iPad!
Have you ever played table tennis using a magnet on mobile device? Now is your chance. Moving magnet in front of magnetic sensor of your iOS device will control ping pong paddle.
When you move magnet, paddle moves in the scene on your side of the table. You try to hit the ball with such speed, that it flies above the net and over to the opponent's side.
Features:
- Demo - computer plays against computer
- Tutorial - learn how to play the game
- Training - learn how to defeat opponent. Training allows you to choose opponent, game speed, game object size and other parameters.
- Match - choose opponent, speed, experience, object size and play (Score: 11, Sets 5)
- Match - old scoring - play match with scoring up to 21 points (Score: 21, Sets 3)
- Championship - Progress from level 1 to 80 (Score: 11, Sets 5)
- 2 Ball Match - Play with 2 balls, if you manage! (Score: 11, Sets 3)
- Cannonade - Return all balls fired by Cannon, play from level 1 to 80 (Score: 51, Sets 1)
- Marathon - Play until reaching 9999 score (go crazy)

Magnetic Tennis
Download on iTunes App Store.
Use magnet to control tennis racket. When you move magnet, tennis racket moves in the scene on your side of the tennis court.
You try to hit the ball with such speed, that it flies above the net and over to the opponent's side.
When serving the ball, the app highlights service field, where player must stand, and service court, where the ball must touch opponent's side.
It is a good indicator of proper service side, especially for beginners in tennis.
Features:
- Demo - computer plays against computer
- Tutorial - learn how to play the game
- Training - learn how to defeat opponent. Training allows you to choose opponent, game speed, game object size and other parameters.
- Match - choose opponent, speed, experience, object size and play (Games: 6, Sets 3)
- Match - old scoring - no tiebreak match with infinite scoring, eg. 16:14 (Games: 6, Sets 3)
- Championship - Progress from level 1 to 60 (Games: 6, Sets 3)
- 2 Ball Match - Play with 2 balls, if you manage! (Games: 6, Sets 3)
- Cannonade - Return all balls fired by Cannon, play from level 1 to 60 (Score: 51, Sets 1)
- Marathon - Play until reaching 9999 score (go crazy)

How to play Magnetic Games?
- Place your iPhone/iPad on a desk or another flat surface.
- Hold magnet in one hand and stretch it as far away from the device as possible.
- Start the app. It will automatically detect surrounding magnetic field and calibrate the game sensitivity. The app will start in DEMO mode, where user input (magnet) is not used.
- Tap on button with app icon on it. This will open Menu.
- Select Tutorial, Training or Match. If you launched the app for the first time, we recommend to go through Tutorial. Tutorial will give instructions on how to move magnet and how to use the app.
- Now you should be able to use magnet to controll object representing player or player's tool (eg. ping pong paddle).
- Play, play, play, collect points and win matches to UNLOCK all games (no In-App purchase required).
Note: If you move mobile device to another location, you may need to repeat starting the game, in order to calibrate for different magnetic field in the area.
Generally this should not be required, because the game detects and reacts to stronger magnetic field when magnet is near the device.
HINT
- If you find it difficult to play with one hand, rotate the device and try the other hand. If you are right handed, try left hand - it is possible that you are used to moving player by left hand, while using action button by right hand (for example action games).
- Try different magnets.
- Magnet does not work as expected - turn magnetic north of the magnet towards the device's sensor near the camera.
- If you find the game too difficult to play, try Magnetic Tennis. It is easier and a little bit slower game.
GAME OPTIONS
- Opponent - NONE (for training service), WALL (for training without an opponent), CANNON (fires balls), PADDLE (computer is your opponent).
- Experience - 1 to 5.
- Game speed - 0.3 (slow) to 1.0 (fast, or full speed).
- Game object size - Large ping pong paddle and ball (double the normal size) and Normal size (quite difficult to play using a magnet).
- Number of balls - 1 to 5. More balls are good for training.
- Camera - Top View (2D or 2 dimensional game play is easier), Front View (3D or 3 dimensional game play).
- Service - Easy (automatic service), Normal (drop ball and use paddle to serve - quite difficult when using a magnet, but you earn 3x as many points in matches).
How to choose MAGNET?
Magnetic Games can be controlled by wide variety of magnets. The most common Ceramic/Ferrite magnets that we used to use at school are adequate for the task and
our magnetic apps will react to them with great sensitivity, although the smallest of these magnets may be too weak.
Magnets too thin may provide worse sensitivity in one axis.
In this case moving player forward and backward in the field will take movement of only 1 - 2 cm (less than 1 inch),
which means you will be unable, for example in case of ping pong, to control speed of the ball with great accuracy.
Neodymium magnets, very popular today, are also suitable as game controllers, but avoid using larger and stronger magnets.
Magnet must provide Magnetic Field stronger than surrounding magnetic field of earth
in the distance of at least 5cm (2 inches) in order to provide adequate sensitivity for good gameplay.
DO NOT use magnet, which is TOO STRONG. You could DAMAGE your mobile device!
Neodymium magnet with dimensions 4cm x 1.5cm x 1cm can lift 3kg (6 lb). That's definitely too strong.
Here is a picture with examples of suitable magnets (green check mark) and magnets, which are unacceptable (marked by red cross):
We hope you are going to enjoy Magnetic Games. If you encounter any problems or find any game too easy or hard to play, please let us know.
Magnetic Games have implemented highly innovative approach to control interface using magnetic detection, which has never really been successfully implemented and released to the world.
This is our attempt to introduce thia concept to the public and hopefully spark new interest of gamers as well as imagination of software developers.
